2015
Zeitgold is founded
Stefan Jeschonnek and Jan Deepen share a mission: they want to completely digitize and thereby radically simplify accounting for small and medium-sized businesses. Together with Kobi Eldar, they found Zeitgold.
2016
April. App launch
Zeitgold launches the first version of the app. The first hundred companies that are enthusiastic about this new way of accounting are quickly found.
2017
February. First seed funding of 4.2 million Euro
VC’s Holtzbrinck and Battery Ventures invest 4.2 million Euros. Zeitgold uses the money to advance its software and grow the team.
June. Zeitgold opens an office in Tel Aviv
Zeitgold is setting up an R&D team in Tel Aviv, one of the world’s leading high-tech and start-up hubs.
September. Zeitgold receives 10 million Euro in series A
Battery Ventures and VC Holtzbrinck invest another 10 million Euros in a series A financing round.
2018
February. New office in Tel Aviv
The team in Tel Aviv is growing rapidly and moves to a new office on Ha’arbaa Street.
May. Launch of the Platform product
The new Zeitgold Platform product goes live which radically simplifies the collaboration between businesses and tax advisors. For the first time, Zeitgold is also focusing on tax advisors as customers.
November. Technological breakthrough
For the first time, Zeitgold’s proprietary AI technology consistently surpassed human accuracy in the bookkeeping process.
2019
January. Another 10 million Euro investment
Zeitgold collects 10 million euros from Battery Ventures, HV Holtzbrinck Ventures, Deutsche Bank, AXA and Saban Ventures.
Partnerships with AXA & Deutsche Bank
Zeitgold forms commercial partnerships with AXA and Deutsche Bank to serve more small businesses even faster.
March. New office in Berlin
The team in Berlin moves into the spacious Zeitgold Campus in the Hamburger Hof.
October. New Finance feature
Zeitgold’s Insights feature prepares business data and trends graphically and offers clear insights into finances and optimization options.
2020
May. Zeitgold receives
27 million Euro in series B.
Led by Vintage Investment Partners the existing investors Battery Ventures, HV Holtzbrinck Ventures, Saban Ventures and btov Partners as well as the insurance group AXA Germany and Deutsche Ban invest again.
August. Focus on tax advisors and end of focus on SMBs
The advancing automation of bookkeeping creates more and more value on the tax advisor side. Zeitgold therefore makes the strategic decision to focus the product exclusively on this customer group in the future. In anticipation of the launch of the new tax advisor product, the platform product is taken off the market.
2021
February. Launch of the Tax Advisor product
After an intensive development phase, Zeitgold launches the new tax advisor product with improved automation technology. The degree of automation allows tax advisors to save up to 80 % of bookkeeping costs.

Founders

Dr. Jan Deepen
Co-Founder & CEO
Before Zeitgold, Jan co-founded the fintech company SumUp and was their Chief Commercial Officer. Prior to SumUp, he was a Principal at the Boston Consulting Group. Jan studied and did his doctorate at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management.

Kobi Eldar
Co-Founder, CTO & CPO
Prior to Zeitgold, Kobi led a cybersecurity unit (8200) in the Israeli Defense Forces and had leading roles in several Israeli tech companies. He holds a BSc from Ha’Universita Ha’Petuha.

Stefan Jeschonnek
Co-Founder & CSO
Prior to Zeitgold, Stefan co-founded the fintech company SumUp and was their Chief Product Officer. He holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA from the University of St. Gallen.
